About
Christine Betz Dressage LLC is owned, operated, and founded by Christine Betz and her husband, Jeff Betz.

Christine Betz, a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist and Gold Bar Recipient, all scores earned on self-trained horses. Christine holds a BS from the University of IPFW, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Christine has 30 years of training experience, 20 of those in Maryland, in developing horses of all breeds and types into excellent competitors and valued companions.
Christine’s foundation lies in her horsemanship training originally in her home state of California. When her family moved to Indiana, Christine had the good fortune to train with Monte Mendenhall, an Arabian horse trainer whose classical dressage foundation was honed with the American Master, Chuck Grant. It was with Monte’s influence that Christine built upon her Western riding knowledge with dressage and jumping skills. It was also with Monte’s encouragement and support that Christine began riding and teaching. Additional horsemanship skills were built studying at John Lyons Symposiums.

After graduating college in Indiana, Christine and Jeff moved to Maryland to work, train, and live in Maryland’s rich riding culture. Her dressage training was further advanced over the years, studying and training with Marat Bakhramov, Janna Dyer, Heather Mason, Alfredo Hernandez, Kathrine Nelson, and Debbie MacDonald. Most recently, Christine has enjoyed the expert guidance of Bent Jenson and Christian Garweg.

For most, horses and the pursuit of dressage and good riding is a dream they long to make a reality. In Christine’s training, instruction and management all work together to help the rider/owner achieve their dream with their horse while respecting the horse and the integrity of its character. All breeds are welcome at Christine Betz Dressage @ Motters Station Stables and are trained to their full potential. Breed characteristics and strengths are used to build confidence and dexterity, mentally and physically in the horse. Cross-training with hill work, cavalettes, custom-built European exerciser, and turnout contribute to the horse's steady development and contentment, and every horse is treated like a Grand Prix horse. Breeds currently represented at CBD include Arabians, Warmbloods (Hannovarian, Oldenburg, Holsteiner, Dutch), Friesians, and Morgans. Competition venues that we regularly participate in include USDF/USEF-rated shows, CDI’s, Western dressage, and AHA Arabian Shows. The yearly schedule includes between 15-20 shows, including championships like USEF/USDF Regional/Finals, Arabian Sport Horse Nationals, and CBLM. Not all riders at CBD are interested in competing, and their riding goals are supported by the facility and the wonderful people here with enthusiasm.
